Shahdag 2026: Azerbaijan's Premium Mountain Resort

Shahdag is located in the Guba district of northern Azerbaijan, at the foot of the Greater Caucasus peak of the same name (4,243 m). In summer, the ski resort transforms into the country's top premium mountain recreation and extreme sports destination. People come for rugged rocky landscapes, excellent service, an alpine coaster and trekking to hidden high-altitude waterfalls.

Getting There from Baku

Distance 210 km, excellent road via Guba and Gusar.

Bus — no direct bus to the resort. First take the Baku–Gusar bus (6 AZN, ~3.5 hours), then taxi from Gusar bus station to Shahdag — 15–20 AZN per car.

Taxi — Bolt/Uber from Baku one way 80–110 AZN.

What to Do in Summer

Alpine Coaster — mountain rail sledge, the most popular extreme attraction in the country. Two-kilometer track with sharp turns. Price 20 AZN per ride.

Cable Cars — lifts take visitors to viewing platforms up to 2,351 m with panoramic views of the cliffs. All-day pass — 25–30 AZN.

Zipline and ATVs — zipline 20 AZN, ATV rental 30–40 AZN for 15 minutes.

Trek to Laza Village — ancient Lezgin village in a canyon near the resort, waterfall cascades and sheer cliffs. Trekking ~5 km from Shahdag or 4WD. Free entry to waterfalls, walking guide — 20–30 AZN.

Where to Stay

Pik Palace Shahdag (5★) / Park Chalet (5★) — international standard, heated pools overlooking the mountains, spa. Summer 2026 from 160–210 AZN per double room with breakfast.
